OSI Group has been around for a long time. Starting in Chicago in 1909 as a family meat market they have had the ability to expand to a global footprint yet keeping the customer’s expectations the forefront on what they do. They provide high-quality meats to foodservice and retail customers as well as many fast food chains. The OSI Group is privately held with 60 locations in 17 different countries.
Keeping things close to home, the OSI Group in June of 2016 purchase an old Tyson facility. This 200,000 square foot warehouse will give the OSI Group the ability to continue to grow. At this point, it is still unknown what products will be manufactured at the facility. Tyson had previously used the plant to produce prepared food products.
The OSI Food Solutions UK was recently announced as the winner of the 2016 Globe of Honour by the British Safety Council. This award is presented in recognition of their excellence in environmental management. This was first checked by an audit in August of 2015 to July of 2016.
Also, it was necessary to demonstrate that this initiative is throughout the UK company, from labor on the floor to the top. They produce meat products for the restaurant industry since 1989 in the UK. The Globe of Honour award is not new to OSI Food Solutions UK as they have won in 2013 and 2015.
The OSI Group continues to grow in Europe, recently acquiring Flagship Europe. This entity was previously owned by the Flagship Food Group out of Denver. This move gives more opportunity to the OSI Group expanding their footprint within Europe. The acquisition provides them now to supply frozen poultry, pies in addition to sauces, dressing, and mayonnaise. This increases their supply chain and processing capability in the region as well.
In August of 2016, the OSI Group purchased the Baho Food. Baho Food produced deli meats, convenience foods for the retail market. This move in conjunction with acquiring Flagship Europe continues to improve their presence in the region. Baho had five subsidiaries operating in 18 different European countries giving infrastructure and a framework for close proximity supply.
The OSI Group continues to grow and seek out available markets for the food service industry. All this is done and maintained with a keen eye on the environmental impact to ensure it meets expectations.
